Flower is still maturing. Since I was in Australia during the last show, i was determined to show at the latest one in Belton. Flower again went Best of Breed Puppy.  My friend Denyse Adams of Maine took her into groups and then BEST PUPPY IN SHOW! Blu-Ray is now an adult and with Denyse to run the groups.... Blu-Ray went Reserve Best in Show Adult! What a great weekend.
Blu-Ray is maturing slowly but coming up nicely!

Even though she was tentative and unsure of herself she took a Best Bred By Exhibitor Best in Show. The following weekend she again went to a show and just got better taking a Group1, a Group 3, a Reserve Best Puppy in Show as well as a Best in Show Rare Breed.

Feb 2013
Recently we attended the IABCA
(International All Breed Canine Assoc) show in Hutto Texas. This was a first outing for grandson Jacob McCurry, who grew up hearing stories of his mom, Grace McCurry (Sissi Vance) and his aunt Brandi showing in juniors when they were kids traveling with their mom to AKC shows all over the US. Both Aunt Brandi and his mom were ranked the  # 1 Junior Showmanship in the ACD breed in thier youth.

Since the dogs we were showing that day were also first timers to the ring, I had determined to not 'push' any thing. I just wanted the dogs to relax and enjoy the day full of strangers, touching, petting and treating them. There was no pressure on standing straight, standing still, etc. Jacob who is 11 years young, took "Yula" in the ring and had such a fun time, it was suggested that he might like to show in Junior Showmanship. Junior Showmanship zeros in on the child handler, not the dog. Thus he could display his blooming skills.

Turning a 'green' boy into a ring with a green dog, can either be a lot of fun.....or a total disaster. My good friend Mari Villanueva suggested  that Jacob use 'Shay' her seasoned Aussie,
Shay loves food and had decided that Jacob was a fun kid. The best part was ...she would 'mind' him. The match was made, and since Jacob had shown a goat in 4-H last year, he did have some idea of how to conduct himself in an arena.   The following is the result.
